Served in a tulip glass. Starts with a one-finger head. Settles to rim bubbles. Very little lace. Solid brown color. Appears to be quite cloudy.
Black cherry and dark, unsweetened chocolate are the first impressions of the smell.
Rich and alcoholic with a very clean, dark crystal malt flavor. Quite smooth, almost velvety. The carbonation is low but appropriate for the style. This is an all malt brew. Lots of semisweet chocolate.
This is a very nice Quad, especially for the uninitiated. Nothing extreme here, just a smooth malty (high alcohol) beer.

Had on tap at Hingham location. Pours hazy, orange-brown in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is complex: plum, dark bread, cherry, and brown sugar all have a strong presence. Drinks heavy. Really awesome combination of flavors. This may be Beer Works best Belgian beer that I have tried. I will get this again if it is still on tap come my next visit.
