Had on 3/11/11.

This beer has been un-retired and is currently on tap with several other Irish-themed beers at the Fenway location.

Pours a color that has barely any hint of red, contrary to the name.

Sweet and smoky malt greet the nose. Not too smoky nor sweet.

The flavor is full of sweet and smoky malt as well. Nothing much else to write about here. It offers a lot of promise for the palate

There's just a bit of lingering smokiness from the malt with a clean finish.

Decent at best. Similar in color to the lager but different enough altogether.

Searched in vain for one with four leafs with this one on 3/17/205. 16-oz. “pint” pour at the Fenway location.

Loosey-goosey moon’s ocean fettering of head with no stick. Light red, crystal clear hue with absolutely no action discernible. Nothing on the nose until I practically buried my snout in it, after which some doppleganger hop tried to philander its way in. Washing machine leftovers of malt and fungal hop; completely uninteresting and forlorn in its taste and mouthfeel; despite its moniker, I don’t notice too much clover. Can’t recommend this.

Sampled at NERAX, this reddish amber is quite attractive but offers little in the flavor department except clover. the caramel notes from the malts are nice, but seem insignificant when compared to the spices in this otherwise watery brew. Yes, it's quite quaffable but begs the question "why?"

This beer, while not unpleasant, wasn't that great. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. I'm not sure what it was trying to do actually. I ordered this on the St Pattys pubcrawl, and got a pint of clear golden red amber. It had a fruity aroma. It was full bodied, but very fruity. My notes say: This beer is trying to be a fruity kriek. Yes, there was that sorta thing going on, and it just seemed out of character. Not sure who I could recommend this to. While nothing was awful, I just didn't know what to think.

I sampled this "Crimson Clover Irish Red" ale on tap at the Salem Beer Works.

This ale poured a clear, copper color with decent white foam that left good lace on the glass. The smell was modest: malt and hops with a trace of citrus. The taste was dominated by hops (floral and bitter), but with some caramel maltiness and a strong hop finish. The mouthfeel was initially sharp on the tongue, but clean and crisp with medium body and medium carbonation. The drinkability was decent for this red ale.
