A- Poured light orange amber with bits of white lacing around the rim of the glass. Served with no head.

S- Sweet honey and some malts. Little else.

T- A bit of sweet honey is very noticeable in the flavor profile, but not overly cloying. Aftertaste is pleasantly sweet but hop bitterness is sadly not present.

M- Very light bodied, not at all viscous, thick or sticky as I would have hoped from a beer brewed with honey.

D- Goes down easy enough without complaint, but does not leave one craving another.

All I was saying was give peace a chance with this one on 2/13/2007. 16-oz. “pint” in their weird, conical glasses at the Canal Street location.

“Brewed in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, Lovefest is a mild, burnt orange ale with a touch of hop character and a soft, lingering sweetness. It is brewed with juniper berries, ginger root, sweet orange peel, 60 pounds of clover honey, fresh rose petals, and a whole lotta love!” according to the day’s beer menu. Listed as 4.5%

Nice, ½-inch head drops to a arbitrary sheen with some light lacing randomly drooping here and there. Deep orange hue with a touch of haze and a fair amount of action. Completely nondescript essence on the nose, not unlike some booze-soaked punches in which all the liquors seem to cancel on another out; although in this case, the alcohol isn’t even present. Can taste a hint of the ginger, but the hops, whatever they are, seem to overpower all the other flowery, subtle stuff mentioned on the menu. Medium-light body.

Not sure what they were going for with this one. If it was some kind of fruit ale for the Valentine’s season, they overdid it with the hops.
