Had on 3/11/11.

Another beer that has been un-retired and is currently on-tap at the Fenway location throughout March.

Pours a color that is black as night with very little in the way of a head.

Coffee, toffee and cream are very apparent upfront. Doesn't smell like a typical example of the style.

Imagine irish cream liquor without the actual liquor and you'll have an idea of the flavor. Toffee and coffee are also present. Throw in some vanilla too!

Mouthfeel has just a bit of all flavors. Texture is a bit thin but still there.

Quite possibly the most interesting variation on an irish stout that I've had. I enjoyed it!

Had on tap at Hingham location--served in a pint glass--seems to be back for month of March

Appearance: 1/2 inch head, opaque, black in color

Smell: cream and chocolate

Taste: big dose of Bailey's Irish cream, light roasted malt, small coffee, and sugar

Mouthfeel: medium body, very sweet, medium carbonation

Drinkability: A sugary treat in the lines of ST's Creme Brulee. Delicious if you like sweeter beers and still has a lot of the beer taste. Probably the best and most inventive beer I have had from the brewery.

From notes taken at Boston Beer Works on Canal.

A: Very dark brown, black appearance. Bubbly tan head with weak retention. Ends up with moderate lacing.

S: Sweet milk chocolate, heavy cream, and some hints of brown sugar. When i say heavy on the cream, i mean heavy on the cream.

T/M: Sweet milk chocolate and big heavy cream flavor. Mild hop bite with an earthy/grassy mouthfeel. Hints of apples and even some grapes follow the flavor. Medium body, medium to high carbonation. Watery and slightly chocolatey aftertaste.

D: The amount of carb and the amount of cream are both a bit odd together, but it's tasty on tap.

A: Dark brown, slight ruby on the bottom. Light white foam, not very thick, but clingy.

S: Vague coffee, but not too strong.

T: Definitely very creamy. Coffee. A sort of whiskey/ Bailey's flavor. Slight bitter aftertaste. A very nice buttery flavor develops later.

M: Very creamy and thick.

D: Delicious and easy to drink!

Listed as Irish Creme Ale at Fenway location in March 2007, but bartender called it Cream Stout. One of the special stout offerings for the month celebrating St. Patty's day.

Appearance: deep black in color with a creamy tan colored 1" head. Nice lacing develops during the session.

Smell: huge chocolate and roasted malt tones leap from the glass.

Taste: this was a very flavorful stout. Loads of chocolates and just a hint of roasted malt tones as this was heavy on the sweet malts. There was a milk (more like heavy cream) flavor in the background and little to no bitterness.

Mouthfeel: creamy and smooth throughout. Brief sweet chocolate aftertaste. Medium-heavy in body.

Drinkability: very easy to quaff this as the flavors were a bit different than what one thinks of an stout. I had two pints of this is a short period and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ordered an aperitif with this one on 3/15/2007. 16-oz. “pint” in a rocket ship glass at the Canal Street location.

Heavy, thickly padded ½-inch of down drops to a 1/8-inch sheet with a fair amount of uneven lace. Almost black hue but some touches of dark mahogany when held up to the industrial lights. No question, Bailey’s Irish Cream on the nose is delectable with some dark chocolate hints, charcoal whip, and black pepper. On the tongue, luscious velvet toffee and Kahlua crème liquer, nutty roastiness and barbecued oak chips; medium body makes this a great after-meal treat or session ale for any occasion.

Probably the best Beer Works offering I have had in over eleven years.
