Big bubbled head but it lasts a decent period of time (5+ minutes). Good 3D lace on the glass. The liquid is copper colored and clear.
Semisweet caramel start to the nose. Floral hop in the background.
This is a very good IPA. To start, the malt (rich caramel) portion is very English, to the point where I thought I mislabeled it as American. The hop, however, is very American. It's also more pronounced than the English style. So, I'll stick to my label. The body is thicker than most IPAs while the carbonation is low like the original style. The caramel comes back softly in the aftertaste. Overall, this is well balanced and interesting -- a nice hybrid of national interpretations. Worth seeking out.
