Poured into a pint glass from a cask.
The color was black but with a slight hint of clarity when held to the light. The head was about two fingers, light brown and very frothy.
The smell was crisp. It was a bit coffee in flavor with some nutty overtones.
The taste had a mocha java/coffee feel to it with some creamy flavors. Some slight chocolate and some toffee flavoring in the background.
The experience was well worth it. My first cask conditioned beer. It was a most different experience that most beers I've had in the past. It was quite clean tasting and felt a bit unsheltered. Nice mouthfeel to the beer.
