Stopped into Lowell Beer Works on 21SEP13 with Alewife and Caitlin for lunch, enroute to BOS for my flight to Germany. Started with a pint of this, for $5.75.
Poured a deep, dark, opaque chestnut brown. Had a creamy, frothy mocha head, with excellent stick on the glass. Aroma was nice and roasty, with lots of rindy citrus. It was fairly smooth, and about a medium for body.
Had a solid roastiness, with some sweetness at the outset. Mocha-choco notes are present, with lots of citrus. It was quite rindy, resiny and pithy. A real nice offering to start off with. Prosit!!

Near black color. A minimum of light passes through the edge. Small but lasting head; leaves ring lace with some lasting streaks.
Excellent hop nose with a solid deeply toasted malt. Very nice.
Starts with a nearly burnt malt. There's a slow introduction of hop bitterness. The swallow is spicy and the aftertaste is like sucking a hop pellet. Very nice taste voyage. Interestingly complex. Body--above average; carbonation-- also elevated.

Poured on-tap and served in a tumbler, the beer is a dark brown coloring with some ruby highlighting and a smooth, creamy, clingy beige head. Aromas of roasted grains and a subtle, deeo, resiny hops nose. Flavors are roasted overall, with a smooth coffee and cream backbone giving rise to a bitter, resiny, wet hops presence. Very smooth and very well balanced. The aftertaste is a blending of the sweet and bitter characters, leaving a slightly drying bitter finish. Good, solid beer.
