Presented from the tap in their 22 oz. pint glass the beer was a medium copper color with one-fnger of white head. No other signs of carbonation, but some good lacing throughout the sample.

The smell was hoppy and floral with slight malt, pine, and fruit.

A smooth innitial malt taste is countered with a floral and bitterly hoppy finish. Not a kick in the mouth, but a well balanced counter to the malt taste. Slight pine and medium spicy in the finish. Also, just a tad bland as the beer warms.

Medium body with a crisp and well carbonated finish.

Enjoyable and drinkable. Nothing to "wow" you, but a solid all around and well balanced beer nonetheless.

coppery amber with decent white head. caramel malty nose with a nice herbal and flowery hop character. there is also a light fruity quality that lends itself well to the aroma. i find a hint of vegetable in the aroma as it warms. the taste has the same caramel malts with herbal hops as the nose. there is a light sweet grapefruit flavor here too in addition to some lighter somewhat less distinct fruity flavor that is found in the aroma.
meduim bodied with a good balanced amount of carbonation. a very good quality session pale ale thats very easy drinking while maintaining an interest. more than worth a try if you happen to see it at beerworks.

Pours a slightly opaque red-amber, topped with a one finger light tan head, leaves bands of lacing.
Nice hoppy aroma, flowers, light citrus and bread, with a fruity note.
Grapefruit, flowers, and bread up front in the taste, with some fruitiness, toast, a touch earthy with some caramel. The taste is much richer than the aroma. I"m guessing the 'special' in the name refers to dry hopping as this is almost IPA level hoppy.
Medium bodied, and a good session beer.

Fenway location in a pint glass. Pale amber, with a decent lacing. Spicy herbal rose like aroma. Midly fruity flavor with a balanced hop bitterness, solid malt for its size ... a tad biscuity and yeasty in the finish. Some fresh hop oil to go with the semi-dry character.

Everyone won with this one on 12/18/2004. 16-oz. “pint” pour at the Fenway location.

Cloak of light frizzle carbonation with some good stick throughout. Very light amber hue with some haze; very quiet. Good hop hit on the nose makes it closer to an IPA; some coriander and young cilantro poking around as well. Almost a floral taste on the mouth – very little bitterness, yet just a bit more bite than a pale with almost a basil-like quality and a pleasant malt profile. Surprised, I found this to be very kind.
