Large, dense head that forms a foamy dome. Some splotches of lace. The liquid is close to clear with a deep golden color.
Very sweet nose of darker caramel and toffee. Not burnt, but deeply toasted. Some alcohol and no notable hop.
Less sweet with some bitterness. The liquid is rich and oily from the alcohol presence (very warming to the throat). Very low carbonation. Due to the semidry taste, the hop bitterness is mild but more than most barley wines. Short aftertaste with plenty of alcohol warmth.

Poured from 12 oz can into tulip glass. A 1" frothy white head drops slowly with plenty of lacing. Color is orange with some sediment in suspension. Abundant carbonation. Rich aroma of spices, ripe fruit, fresh bread, a hint of citrus. Mouthfeel is light to medium, very sticky, with a dry, warming finish. Flavor has strong spice presence, fruit and floral aspects, malt background, mild hops, and some alcohol warmth in the finish. Overall: Excellent.
