We start with an Imperial Brown Ale but go rogue by smoking 20% of the malt with cigar tobacco in house. We get premium tobacco leaves, then soak them in rum then put those leave into one of our kitchen smokers with the grain. This cigar smoked malt is added with all the other malts during the brewing process and results in dry tobacco, leather, and cigar flavors. It doesn't add the campfire astringent flavor. Think about how an unlit cigar smells and that's the flavor that comes through. We hold out a small amount from every brew to put into rum barrels.
