Pint pour at the taproom. Served chilled.
Dark brown colored body. Beige head.eaves behind partial lacing rings.
Aroma is chocolate malt with a touch of smoke.
Taste is roasted chocolate malt. The smoke hides beneath. Floral hops for balance.
Medium mouthfeel. Slight bitterness. Good carbonation.
The smoke does well with the chocolate malts.

draught
Rich, thick looking, very dark brown appearance. A bit of a beige head. Very dark roasted barley, with a bit of caramel in the aroma. Really good, smooth dark roasted grain flavor, which finishes it off slowly. Medium mouthfeel.

On tap. Poured a jet-black color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of smoked malts, oak and dark chocolate. Nice subtle smoky flavor with chocolate and rich toffee.

Our server was way more positive on this beer than I was after trying it. The beer had good appearance being opaque with good white head and some lace. The scent...nice an roasty. The taste was not very well balanced....finished to bitter for me. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall....eh.

A big malty porter with a light smoke flavor and aroma in the background. Caramel with some chocolate notes. No burnt or harsh roast flavors. Very drinkable and worth repeating

Had from the tap at Northbound Brewpub.

I feel like Northbound's beers are very much brewed to style, and this is no exception. A relatively light beer for a porter, with a distinct chocolate undertone. Overall a good porter, without pushing any boundaries.

Great place to sit down with your friends or family. Had a couple different beers that I'll report on later, but the Smokehouse Porter stood out! Paired wonderfully with the smoked fish appetizer and the pulled pork. Balanced with the perfect amount of smoke flavor on the initial smell and taste. I will be enjoying this again when I visit.

On tap.

It all begins with the deep brown, opaque liquid with a light tan, dense head of about a finger's height that quickly becomes a 1/8" ring around the edge.

On the nose, this brew is lightly smoky with roasted and toasty malt aromas and very light, citrus hops.

The flavor comes across as roasty-bitter with a little smokey and a light tartness on the end from the hops. An excellent example of a smoked porter.

Mouth filling and full bodied, this is a big brew. Don't let the midrange alcohol fool you for a minute. Long finishing with light carbonation.

Enjoyable and a perfect companion to their pulled pork sandwiches.

Pub review coming, once I visit a couple more times.
