Love their beers, food was tasty..had the brisket sandwedge and some wings and they were on point

Nice spot for beers with the guys, a bite with friends or a date with the missus. Another high quality GR area brewery....great place to enjoy fine brew and tasty food

Excellent selection of beers. No Rules may be their top beer, but they have many others that are just as good. Crowler and growler fills available. Food is very good as well. Just 15 minutes north of Grand Rapids, MI.

This brewery was the highlight of our recent trip to Grand Rapids.....huge open space, huge bar, and lots of seating in an industrial space. Food was great....service was excellent. Nice selection of to-go beers coupled with a great taplist......featured OB and cigar city beers along with many perrin options.

Showed up not knowing what to expect and was really pleasantly surprised. The place has a great layout with a wide open bar, open dining area, private party area, and the shuffleboard table was a nice addition. We were seated immediately and our server took really good care of us. The selection was great. Most of their lineup was on tap and they also had bottles available of beer that wasn't on tap. I enjoyed the russian imperial stout, Lil Griz, Dark New Day, Blazin' Hotbox, and Black Goat. After eyeballing the neighbor's food, I ordered a burger and was happy I did; it was delicious. I was impressed with the layout of the taproom/brewery, the selection of beer, and the service. If your're nearby, I suggest stopping in.

Food is great here and if you come in a Michigan summer - the patio is open. Music is always playing , and you have windows into the brewery if you sit at a table of the inside wall. Most beers are ok, with at least one on tap you are sure to love. Some of theirs recent B.A beers are OUTSTANDING. Not your typical microbrewery as far as ambiance, but a solid place to meet friends. Food here is done really well.

Lunch and flight at 12:30 on a Friday. Place is pretty large, and was doing a good business. 20 of their beers on tap. Service was a bit lacking. Lots of bartenders running around, but not waiting on customers quickly. I wasn't in a hurry so no big deal. Ordered a chili cheese dog and chips. The food was solid, but it took quite a long time to arrive despite being a simple prep.

Love the atmosphere. Love the food.

Concerned about the beer, however, as their top-rated (check the retired ratings) beers continue to disappear off the menu.

Know that the talented brewer that came up with Malted Milk Ball is gone and I think it's starting to show, unfortunately. Thinking the job is too big for the gentlemen who replaced him as I can't find a single beer that I would consider above average on their current menu.

Hope the Lil' Griz and Black Goats of the world eventually return, but I'm not holding my breath. Was a once-a-week customer due to their good food and quality service, but I'm jumping off the ship early before it goes down -- that's where it's heading.

First time here on 12/13/14... great entrance, very large and open area for beer consumption. Really liked the decor and everything very clean. Staff all very nice, not as knowledgeable about their products as some places, but knew enough for most people. Was little bummed out as they were out of a beer listed on their website (supposedly updated that morning), but when I got there I was told that had run out 3 days prior (it was their malted milk stout). Again really enjoyed time spent here, would recommend, but if looking for a particular beer you might want to call ahead to be on safe side that it's on tap.

I stopped in at Perrin with my grandpa on the way to a White Caps game. This place is located in an industrial park. I was immediately impressed with the rows of hop vines growing in front of the building. There was a patio to the left of the entrance which is where old granddad wanted to sit. I prefer to belly up to the bar, but he was driving.

We marched through the bar. It seemed rather small but quaint. There is an L-shaped bar with the beers listed on a chalkboard. I ordered a sample of nine beers. They had over 20 on tap. They had four beers in their Cooper Series that were barrel aged along with a couple others that were bourbon barrel aged. I also tried their grapefruit IPA and vanilla porter, and IIPA. The Stoutwood and vanilla porter stood out to me. They were all good though.

The service was very good, and the food was fantastic. My grandpa had the ham and cheese and said how much he liked it. I had the mac and cheese and loved it. I liked it even better than Slow's BBQ.

Overall, I really liked this place. I will definitely revisit on my next trip to the area. I also picked up a 750ml of their Quadwood which was the only bottled offering at that time. I was recommended this place by a friend and highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

Perrin is rapidly becoming one of the best breweries in Beer City USA. This place is always busy, but they have so much seating it is never an issue to get a seat. They have HUGE big screen TV's and always have sports on so it is nice mix of Brew Pub (80%)and Sports Bar (20%). The selection they present is always changing and they aren't afraid to roll the dice on some brews. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They have the best beer battered onion rings and you have to get them with the "boom-boom" sauce. This is one of the best places to bring friends from out of town and a must see destination if you are in the GR area.

This was a bit of a drive--maybe 20-25 minutes from our hotel in Grand Rapids, but not too bad. This brewery is newer, and built to accomodate expansion in the future. They are growing a bunch of hops up some trellises outside the patio that were really going to town already. With a large indoor dining/drinking space and patio expansion room this place fit a lot of people. It was busy but not insane when we arrived, allowing us to get a good table. That day was the release of their first bottled beer called Quadwood, a Belgian Quad aged in new oak barrels, and we were able to each buy up to two bottles. That beer was great and well worth bringing home! Between the three of us we shared the entire sampler of their beer line-up of 22 beers. This was not cheep, but a great way to try a lot of beers.

I found most of their hoppy beers to be lacking, but they really know how to do wood aged beers! I gave a couple of their top tier wood aged beers 5 ratings...and I almost never give out 5's!

large, expansive space with little soundproofing, so the noise can be very distracting. not a cozy space by any means. industrial. place was very crowded, even with all of the available space.

extensive beer offerings & food menu, but lack quality & craftmanship. OK, but there are better stops in GR area.

There is always a long wait for a table, but you can go to the bar and stand in a long line to get a beer...but at least you can try a couple of beers before you get seated. Just know this going in, because a wait in excess of an hour is not uncommon.

The quality of the beer is great. Food get's it done, but let's face it you go here for the beer, and eat the food. The service is friendly, and very good...they use a team approach, and you'll never be staring at empty plates or empty glasses, and your food comes fast.

The beer selection is whatever they have in stock, that they have won't find a crappy adjunct lager in this joint. The variety on tap is sufficient to please just about anybody that visits...unless they don't like beer.

Overall a good place to catch some good food and good beer.

Atmosphere: good brewery atmosphere. Looks like they have lots of cool hop plants when it's not covered in snow. Nice big open layout. Shuffleboard. Good view of the brewing area.

Quality: I tried probably 4 or so of there beers some were great and some were good. No real duds that I found. Nothing to complain about

Service: good service and growler fillers. Never found myself neglect or overly served

Selection: good large variety. Lots of barrel aged beers right now. Good choice of styles lots of good options. You can get anything in anysize for there or to go.

Overall: great beer great prices and a good place to hang out. Id recommend it for anyone who is in the area. surely will be looking for their beer now. One of the must visits in the Grand Rapids area

I had the Pale Ale at Smokeys bar in Hubbard Lake. It was the worst pale ale I have ever had on tap. The person next to me could not choke his down. The bar maids did not even know what city it was made in. They could only tell me Michigan, and claimed that nobody in the bar knew. We picked up a little table ad and saw the name, which wasn't even on the tap handle. It was almost like they were hiding their location because the table ad didn't say where it was from. Somebody suggested HELL, and I said probably because according to the song, "In heaven there is no beer."

I stopped in with a buddy on our way to Grand Rapids. The place was very cool, the decor was very new and well put together. It was nice to see the full brewery through the window in the tap room. I had a Kona Brown which was real good and my buddy had 3 3oz tasters. We also split an order of homemade potato chips. The chips were good but you could tell they had been made hours before. It would have been nice if they came out a little fresher. All in all it was fun and I would defiantly go back if passing through the area.

A large facility, with a large brewing area, especially considering it has only been open for about 1 year.
It has a u-shaped bar that seats about 5, numerous reg. and high tables inside, plus a covered outside patio. There also appears to be an upper level, not open at the moment for additional seating. The brewery itself is visible thru glass from most indoor seats, Not to mention the 3 tanks directly behind the bar.
With all this space and seating, hey are well equipped for larger social or corporate functions.

Very good and varied food menu. Based on the dishes and sides I've had, their food is quite good; notably better than a typical pub, for instance.

A rather large selection of beers for a brewery with 19 on tap during my visit. Good variety too, and options to purchased in 4 oz samplers as well as 12 oz., 16 oz., and larger sizes. They sell and fill growlers.

Good prices, with excellent prices on their specials.

We went for the beer, and in that respect we were not disappointed. The Peace out Stout had good body, nice aroma and good smooth, not too heavy taste. The Sleeeping Bear beer (a wheat beer) was also very tasty. But ....that was the good part. I had a classic Reuben which was ok, but that is all, it was not a deli quality corned beef. The service unfortunately was worse. We didn't get a waiter for 17 minutes and he was ok for the rest of the time until we needed the bill, which took 21 minutes after my last sip of beer. I don' t know if they were short handed that day (5 pm) and would not want to say this is typical. Yet there is some room for improvement if they want people to come for more than the beer. The place was also rather loud, but that didn't bother me.

I have been to the Perrin brewery/brewpub 3 times, all of which have been stellar overall. I did show up there once with my fiancee on a Saturday and it was insanely busy and they don't keep a list, so it's just a bunch of lurchers staring people down for a seat. We ended up leaving that night because we were hungry, so if possible I'd try to hit it at a down time or before the big rush. Place is always clean with large windows to see into brewery area. Beer has always been top notch. Their samplers are huge (up to 9) allowing you to try most everything. So far I've had Auburn Wheat, Dark Knight Lager, DIPA, Extra Blonde, Extra Pale, I2D2, Imperial Stout, IPA, Kona Brown, Nut Brown, Pale, Porter, Raspberry Blonde, Rogue Rye, Strong Pale, and Two Faced and out of all of them there's not a dud in the group, including the blonde which is not a favorite style of mine or my fiancee. I'm not usually into fruit beers, but the Raspberry Blonde is absolutely delicious. Food has been great every time. Overall, one of our favorite places in Michigan!

This is one of 3 breweries that are in very close proximity to me and it has become my primary. It has good prices on a diverse selection of beers from the light to somewhat heavier. I really enjoyed the Chocolate Milk Stout, I2D2 IPA, and their Xtra Pale all of them were affordable. All their beers have a good abv for the location a little more out of the way, and kind of rural. The food is great, a few notches above standard bar food for sure. The Bumpkin Burger, The Pacifist, and even the PBC Chili dog are all worth trying at a good price. The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable; the feel is similar to Founders but a little more laid back in my opinion. Worth a visit when you come to Grand Rapids.

Visited Perrin while in Grand Rapids on a beer-centric road trip. This place wasn't even on my radar, but it was highly recommended by a few people that my wife and I talked with while sitting at the bar at Founders.

We got there about 45 minutes after opening on a Saturday and the place was pretty empty. It's a good sized place with plenty of tables, but I was a little surprised that the bar wasn't bigger. We sat at the bar and the bartender came over immediately to get our order. We both opted for the IPA, and it was damn good. The turkey club was decent, but the onion rings were AMAZING, but I do wish the portion was bigger.

Overall, the place is kinda far out from downtown Grand Rapids, but I'd say it's worth checking out. I would go back again.

Comparisons will be drawn between Founders and Perrin, that is inevitable. Both strive for a garage type atmosphere. In addition, Perrin's head brewer is a Founder's alum, so there are bound to be some similarities in the beer profiles. That being said, Perrin is definitely a great place to stop in for a beer, and brewery to watch. On busy nights and weekends service can be somewhat slow, but for the most part you can expect to receive beers pretty quick and food within 5-10 minutes of placing your order. Their hummus, onion rings, and burgers are all great. I'm looking forward to exploring more options over the next few months. For a fairly new operation they have had no issues with "growing pains" with their beer. All of their brews have been excellent right out of the gate. Like another local brewery their taproom has a nice mix of staples (pale ale, IPA, stout, etc.) and rotating taps. I enjoy the fact that Perrin takes a more balanced approach to their beers. There is a time and place for every flavor, but not every beer needs to be hopped to high heaven or taste like a coffee/chocolate bomb. You can enjoy several brews at Perrin without having your palate destroyed. I will go out on a limb and say that their pale ale is by far the best in the state. It has an incredible nose and a nice, hoppy, citrusy bite to it. It really tows the line of an IPA, but man is it delicious. If you are in GR, you definitely need to give Perrin a shot. I look forward to when they start their canning operation, so I can have some on hand in my fridge. Cheers!
