Black. Even when held up to the light. Tan head recedes to a thin, patchy film. Too dark to check for carbonation.
Smoky, toasted, sweet, chocolate malts. Prominent. Not sickly.
Some alcohol. Not as much as I would expect for 9% ABV. Taste follows the nose, albeit with less prominence. More delicate. Some coffee. After about a third the way through some burn from the alcohol becomes noticeable.
Mouthfeel is medium with some nice carbonation. Alcohol is present but subtle.
I liked this imperial stout. However, given it is both 9% ABV and highly drinkable it is, frankly, too dangerous.

330ml bottle served into a tulip glass
Look: Dark, translucent brown-black with a considerable amount of carbonation - as a result the thin, tan head disappears fairly quickly leaving a thin, foam ring round the edge of the glass and very little else. Looks a bit like flat cola.
Smell: Very, very strange smell - for something like this I'd expect a significant amount of cocoa, coffee and the like but all I got was something that was rather disturbingly metallic, like something that had been left in a can for too long. Best-before date was November 2015 so I doubt it was a bad bottle.
Taste: Rather better on this score - the expected combination of dark, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, malt and a hint of vanilla is there. Little hop character, but that's to be expected, and the ABV of 9% is very well hidden. Smell notwithstanding, the taste is fairly rich in that coffee/chocolate way.
Feel: Good flavour profile, fairly smooth mouthfeel and eminently drinkable but let down by the rather offputting smell.
Overall: Ummm. Yeah. Really not sure what to make of this - it looks like flat Coke, smells like the inside of a lager can but actually tastes pretty damned good despite all this. The ABV is very well disguised, and there's no alcohol taste evident at any stage. As imperials go, it's pretty drinkable but the smell really lets it down. Might give it another go at some point.

Thick and silky black pour. Rich tan head.
Aromas of roasted malts and cocoa.
Tastes rich, with alcohol well-hidden behind a hefty load of chocolate and vanilla sweetness, and cocoa-coffee bitterness.
Incredible balance between flavour and drinkability.
