After a failed experiment with a pale ale doughnut - the beer just soaked into the dough and made it mushy - we decided to switch it up completely. The old switcharoo. Put the doughnut into the beer!
Pump up the Jam combines the sweet jam flavours with a sweet bready malt base. It’s a jam doughnut in a pint glass. No word of a lie. Imagine the best of a jam doughnut with the best of a beer. Chill it to perfection and fill a pint glass with it. Pump up the Jam!

Copenhagen 17/11 2019. 33 cl can from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. Very pink can with a big Donut with sprinkles. It looks very sweet and confectionery.
Pours unclear copper with a small white head. Fairly bubbly. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is intense, very sweet and candy-like. Sweet malts intermingling sugar, sweet jam, raspberry. Like opening a bag of Wine gums and inhaling deeply.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, almost flat texture.
Flavor is surprisingly well balanced although still to the sweet site. Quite strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a strong sweet undercurrent. Semi-dry finish.
Delivers what it promises. A lot of sweetness, jam and sugar. And actually manages to find some balance in the flavor and not entirely forget that it is a beer.

330ml can. There’s no pastry pale ale definition yet so, for the moment, this remains classified as an APA. The reality is it’s one of those pale ales that’s a milk stout in disguise. The lactose is dialled way high to deliver the jam and the rich malt base delivers the doughnut. It’s certainly interesting, and it delivers what it promises, but one is definitely enough.

Pours a slightly cloudy, dark amber coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smell is dominated by doughy malt and sweet raspberry jam, really making this smell a lot like a raspberry doughnut. Taste follows the nose, being dominated by sweet, doughy malt and equally sweet and very slightly tart raspberry jam, with just a hint of citrus fruit as well. Finishes quite sweet, with a light bitterness and some strawberry/raspberry lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
While I'm not necessarily a huge fan of pastry beers, Tiny Rebel does them quite well, always maintaining a certain balance that keeps them from drifting into syruppy sweet territory too much. While this is quite sweet and fruity, there is a bit of tartness and bitterness there for balance as well, while the raspberry really stands out in a nice way.
