L- It might as well be black, and it's can-conditioned as mucho sediment seems to have come with the pour. Pours with 1Cm deep tan fine-bubble head, holds well.
S- Pungent cocoa is the big thing here, not sure anything else fights it's way past that. (It contains Cocoa nibs, so 'Surprise!!!' it smells/tastes of cocoa - not sure if I'm a fan of such added ingredients).
T- Strong dark cocoa chocolate > into dryer finish which presumably has a rising hops note in it, though that like the cocoa is masked by the clarion arrival of it's 11% ABV which depending on your age might come over as a blunt instrument.
F- I was concerned that this might be overly sweet, something I DISLIKE, but I think the pungency of the beer rather blunts that. The ABV% is rather nakedly on show though which I am not sure suggests much class.
O- I suspect this is a bit of a novelty recipe, interesting to try but you're not too likely to make a regular of it, not least due to it's price. This beer is like a Rorschach Test, what you find in it is as much a reflection of you, as it! :)
Bought from Wholefoods, W8 £4.90/330ml can BB: 31/01/22.
ps. 1000th review brief ramble. 'I'd just like to thank... [blahhh]' lol. Nope, I had to choose between this new listing and a magnum of trad Trappist Belgian Tripel for my 1000th. Well this is a Brit beer so I chose this one. The Tripel comes next :) Chin-chin!
