Typical appearance, black, with a small wispy off-white head. Piney hops in the nose, notes of cocoa. Taste was pretty smooth, with a good balance between piney hops and chocolaty malts. Not really "IPA-y" in that it wasn't overly bitter or hoppy, but it wasn't exactly a malt bomb either. Just a well-balanced black ale, with good drinkability.
