Not much of a head. Moderate lacing. Standard pale, hazy IPA color. Fruity, low bitterness for the style. Somewhat heavy. Manages to stand out as unique in a sea of similar brews.

Vault Brewing Co. "Public Offering"
16 fl. oz. can without production codes or freshness dating
$15/4-pk @ Original XIII, Phila., PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: Its very hazy, and even cloudy, body has a golden color with an orange sheen in the full pint. The head is a finger's width of white foam but it's already dwindling. The aroma is fruity with more of a northern orchard character (apples, berries) than tropical fruits although there are some, and it's woody and piney. The taste reveals a basic, sweetish malt that seems to contains oats and probably wheat as well. It's oddly earthy, a little bit "dank", woody, and piney over the fruitiness (apple, pear, strawberry, mango) and it seems oxidized to me. I have 3 more cans of this so I'll check back on that and update if necessary. Of course, for any beer, you never know how it's stored prior to purchase so this might not have been a brewery issue. It's not that bitter, nor acidic, but there is a light bit of "hop bite" and it finishes mainly dry with the bitterness that it does have lingering alongside earth, wood, and pine. In the mouth it's medium bodied, gently crisp, and basically smooth. The head dropped quickly, that's for sure, but it did leave some very nice lacing behind so I'm not really sure about the score for appearance. All in all it's a pretty decent New England Style IPA but it's not great. I'll still enjoy drinking the remaining three cans that I have but they won't be a special treat at the end of the workday. ~ p.s. The second can that I sampled did not appear to be oxidized.

Can to snifter,
LOOK; slightly hazy golden yellow, medium off white head, fades quickly, but OK retention. some minor foamy legs.
AROMA: grass, wood, veggie, citrus, grape. fairly faint.
TASTE: white grape, oak, chardonnay, ginger ale. a little weird. light citrusy finish mixed with the lingering ginger and oak.. not great.
FEEL: light to medium body. a little sharp. minimal carbonation.

LK: 4.5: yellow/orange color, large creamy eggshell head, excellent retention
AR: 3.25 : grass, vegetable, beet, kumquat, floral notes
TA: 3.75 : citrus, grass, vegetable, kumquat/peach, hay
FL: 3.5 : medium body, pretty smooth, easy drinking,
OA: 3.75
obviously a change from my previous experience 2 years ago. updating/averiging #'s accordingly.
RESULTANT CHANGE: 2.62 ---> 3.21
