Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. The beer is part of a gift from my brother @bpsully. Thank you!
The beer pours a dark cola brown color with a fluffy beige head foaming up about 1 cm. This foam fades quickly to a sturdy and clingy edge ring. I get some scattered lacing when I swirl my glass.
The aroma is rich and malty with some sweet notes too. I get milk chocolate some vanilla, a faint cinnamon note and general roasted malt notes. NO hints of ABV or any hop character.
The first sip reveals a medium body with sticky texture and very mild and spacious carbonation. The beer is pretty easy to drink which is dangerous at 9%.
Flavor is pretty much what I expect from the nose and description on the can. I get milk chocolate, some molasses hits, a bit of roasted malt and also bits of cinnamon and vanilla. I also get a little berry flavor on the finish which I didnt expect.
No hops show up and the ABV is hidden here to, no warming on the swallow.
This is a pretty tasty sweet stout, definitely malt forward and probably sweet for some, I enjoy it and would drink again, but not more than one in a night.
