This differs a bit from the original. Notably, the ABV is ramped up to six percent. Not a huge difference, but a difference. This review relies on the results of a pint can being emptied into a clear glass liter mug. The color of the liquid is a very dark brown, but not as dark as a black coffee brown. Perhaps a healthy dose of oatmeal is the cause. There's no rule that stouts have to bring the very dark brown color of black coffee. The roasted malt aroma expected of a good stout is there. It's head is nearly minimal, but enduring. The nitro-driven effect is noticed. Whilst it makes the consumption very smooth, it also makes the drinking seem somewhat flat. Its taste is right there for an oatmeal stout, with just enough softness added to the taste and mouthfeel by the oats. Also, this has a nice bitterness provided by the hops and roasted malt. Sometimes a stout doesn't need anymore softening by nitro. This might be a good example of that category.
