Vault Brewing Co. "Evernacht"
16 fl. oz. can coded "12/15/22" and sampled on 04/26/23
$15/4-pk @ Original XIII, Phila., PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: A clear, very dark brown body is capped by a finger's width of khaki colored foam. The aroma is clean, malty, toasty, and lightly cocoa-ish. The taste delivers the same with added notes of nuttiness, grassiness, pine, almost burnt sugar, very dark caramel, unsalted white crackers, and a subtle smoky-roastiness. A stiff bitterness balances it and leads to a dry finish where a drop of sweet and caramelish malt fades as bitterness, grassiness, and pine emerge to linger for some time. The body is medium-light, and it's crisp on the lips and tongue. The head has held up well to this point (about halfway through), and there are tight rings of fairly thick lace about the glass where each sip was taken. I know that this is not a very popular style of beer but a lot of people are missing out on this one! It's well-brewed, very nicely rounded, and perfectly balanced. Nicely done.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
