Butcher's Tears

Anniversary beer, their flagship pale ale in a barrel aged form. Quite mild overall with light floral hops and low bitterness, a bit of wood, vanilla, and tannin-like quality from the barrel. These guys clearly have their own conception as most of their beers don't taste as one might expect based on style nor like other Brewers and that's most welcome in a sea of sameness. Not sure they are all successful for my palette though; this hangs together decently but seems a little flat overall, without a lot of punchy flavor. Medium body and slightly dizzy which detracts a bit.
