Bottle from De Bierkoning at home. Bottled Feb. 2019 - almost a year ago. Pours a pitch black color and a brown head with little retention. Aroma's of roasted malts, a bit umami, molasses, tar, a bit alcoholic. Retronasal it's roasted coffee, umami, tar, somewhat fruity sour. Flavor is moderate bitter and light sweet, roasted. Medium bodied. Long finish, heavy roasted, ashy, quite bitter.

My second bier sampled at Cafe DeRat in Utrecht on 19SEP19. The 0.33l bottle had a cost of €5.50. Was bottled 22FEB19 and had a best-by of FEB22.
It poured jet black, like North Sea crude. Had a thin, creamy, rich beige head, though lacing was light. The semi-sweet nose had dark choco, coffee and Bosco (an old chocolate syrup for milk and ice cream). Quite inviting! It was smooth on the tongue, with a medium body; though I wish it had been fuller.
Taste? Choco again, with light coffee, a nutty, almond-like aspect, plus some raisins and dates in the background. Had a hint of floral hopping in the semi-sweet finish. Quite nice! In fact, I had to have a second bottle! Prosit!
