Our Belgian Golden Ale is made exclusively with pale malts, resulting in a deep golden color and sweet malty taste. It is a flavorful brew (7.5% ABV), but is hopped liberally with German hops to balance out the sweetness and strength. We selected a special Belgian yeast strain that slightly imparts the flavors of banana, clove and even bubble gum. The result is a unique, and flavorful ale.

This beer poured a clear amber color with a thick head...a little lacing. The smell is sweet and sour, but slightly floral. The taste is malty and a bit sweet. Nice balance. The mouthfeel is full and hides the alcohol bite that should come with a beer of this ABV. This is a very drinkable beer that works perfect on a cool fall day.

Abita's new select. got it at Chimes East (baton rouge)
Served to me a nice clear orange amber with a small white head.
Smell. A bit mild, but still nice. Lots of sweet and fruity aromas. Little bit of apples and a good amount of bananas. A light aroma, light and sweet.
Taste. Also a bit mild. The dominant taste i get is more sweet fruits. Website talks about the yeast they used giving it a banana, clove and bubblegum tastes. Well i do get banana and also some bubblegum, but i have to look hard for the clove. But it is sweet, and with a low carbonation, this beer is very quaffable.
Mouthfeel. The carbonation is very light for the style, and i'm afraid makes it very easy for me to gulp. balance is nice, in fact, i am a bit surprised on the hop appearance here. It's different, but this could be just from the tap. But i think i needs more carbonation to give it more of a traditional feel and taste.
Overall an interesting take on the style. Seems very much in the middle of a belgian strong pale ale and a belgian pale ale. A bit light making it so freakin drinkable. I would really want to try this from a bottle. Too bad they dont do that. But this beer does have a mild characteristic that i could see many macro drinker enjoying if they tried it.
