The 300th anniversary of New Orleans deserves a toast like no other — so we suggest you raise a glass (or bottle) of Abita Maison Blanc. Our tricentennial tribute was brewed to capture the diverse history and culture of this great city, with malted barley and wheat bringing the downhome charm and Sauvignon blanc grapes adding a distinctive touch of elegance. The result is light, crisp and dry, a refreshing “house white” that would surely make New Orleans proud. Bonne fête!

Light and crisp. drier and sweeter than other beer-wine hybrids. Champagne feel on the tongue with just enough green grape flavor. Was supposed to be a limited edition but after a 6 pack, sensed that may change.

"Ale with Sauvignon Blanc grapes." "Brewed with malted barley, wheat, and Sauvignon blanc grapes."
From their website: "Our Maison Blanc is a beer-wine hybrid crafted using the grains of the beer world with the Sauvignon Blanc grapes of the wine world. 50% of the fermentables come from the grain, while the other 50% comes from the grapes. The result is a crisp and dry, refreshing “house white” blend with notes of white grapes and a white wine-like body." 8 IBUs. 3 Lovibond. 6.5% ABV. Brewed year-round.
"YEAST: ALE
MALT: PILSNER, WHEAT
HOPS: HALLERTAU BLANC"
Tastes a bit artificial, finishing with an almost sticky fruity note that I guess is grape but seems to me more like red apple if I try to forget I know this is brewed with grapes. Pale malt up front with some graininess not dissimilar to an all-malt lager (think Michelob). Has a cidery stickiness and artificial sweetness throughout that's pretty unpleasant. No hop flavour comes through at all.
Smooth, wet, unrefreshing, medium-bodied, well-carbonated.
A grape beer with ill enough commitment to the grapes that tastes too artificial to recommend. I wonder how they went about brewing with the grapes (and indeed if the grapes themselves were used or if they used some cheap puree-like method to impart grape-like flavour). In any case, it'd be a disappointment if it weren't from Abita...I've had enough of their beers my expectations are set extra low when trying a new one.

A fairly light beer with the dry taste of the grapes. Although light, the dryness of the grapes not as drinkable. Overall a good beer that would go well with various cheeses and foods.

Clear golden pour with a white head. Grainy aroma with wheat really standing out. Taste follows the nose with a wheat and straw flavor upfront. The grapes add a slight acidity and mild tartness.
