From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This unique blonde pours a
clear amber tinged golden with a nice head of white foam that
settles to a thick ring, thin swirling layer, and displays some faint
lacing. Nose of herbal hops, honey sweet malts, white pepper,
subtle citrus, and light breaded malts. Flavors surpass the nose
with an interesting presentation of orange zest, herbal and floral
hop notes, breaded malts, subtle cracker, white pepper, and light
apple notes touched with a nice honey sweet malt. Mouth feel is
medium, medium light carbonation, smooth, and finishing nicely
balanced between hops and malt that is subtly dry.
Overall, a solid almost Belgian brew worth picking up and maybe even
keeping some for later in the year!
Cheers

Comes out in a shaker pint a clear medium golden with little to no head, at the Abita Brewpub in Abita Springs, LA.
Nose is very Belgian/estery.
Mouthfeel was medium with limited carbonated influence.
Taste followed the nose with estery pear and apple.
After reading the description, I was surprised about this beer. Not in a bad way, but it just wasn't what I was expecting and it really didn't commit to either side of things, i.e. Belgian v. American

I've had it once, will be getting another couple soon. To me, this one is a like a bitter hefeweizen. It is VERY good and if it were to become a full time beer for Abita, I'd always keep it stocked up.

Abita 40th Anniversary has a very thick, creamy, ivory head, a clear, bubbly, blonde appearance, with heavy lacing. The aroma is of pungent barley and possible honey. It has a similar flavor, with balanced bitterness and sweetness. Abita 40th Anniversary has a high-medium body and a dry finish.
