Served in a sampler glass at Barrington Brew Fest 2013.

As much as I've maligned Abita in the past, I've had some pretty good luck with their Select series lately, so hopes are slightly higher than usual here. This stuff pours a hazy straw topped by a finger of white foam. The nose comprises lemon zest, coriander, light clove, light grass, and a twinge of banana peel, but that might just be my imagination. The taste brings in more of the same, with a bit more banana and a stronger grassy component, one that's joined by a smattering of flowers for the sake of it. The body is a rather light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a wet feel. Overall, a decent enough wit, but a very weak wheat IPA. Sure, it seems as though this stuff has a larger addition of hops than most wits, but it's mostly drowned out by the spices and whatnot.

Poured a completely hazy bright yellow with a thin white head, sticking around for just a few seconds.

The smell is like a turbocharged wit, a little much with the phenols. Besides the standard wit notes, there is a slight citrusy hop presence, though not much considering this is billed as an IPA cross.

The taste is light and citrusy, with a banana explosion. There is some hop bitterness. Tastes of a witbier with a larger bittering hops addition. It's just personal preference, but I thought the taste was a bit odd. Mouthfeel was thin.

It's OK.

Pours a hazy yellow, perfectly wit. White head nice lace. The aroma is bread, spices, light earthy hops, grass and bubblegum yeast notes. Taste has more of that fruity bubblegum yeast, light bitterness, floral hops, bread crust and spice. Lighter body, crisp.

Pretty good wit, but misses the mark with the IPA part.
