Begin another review dump from CO, KS and KY. Full notes taken from my phone at the time of consumption. This one in the Avery taproom in Boulder, CO.
A- Muddy pink bodied pour from the tap to a snifter. A small cap forms on the beer but fizzes out rather quickly leaving absolutely nothing behind. Lacing is not an option here.
S- Fresh sliced cucumber aromatics jump out of the glass with great strength. Tart lactic acid from the Berliner base as well as some hibiscus floral tarts.
T- Strong lactic acid and a massive amount of cucumbers combine to taste like real fermented pickles. The sourness feels a bit like lemon and lime and hibiscus plays into that. Crusty wheat and wet oak beyond the obvious strong notes.
MF- Light bodied and dried out pretty much fully. Carbonation fairly high and that helps resonate the strong flavors. Moderately sour overall.
Picked fermented cucumbers is the overriding theme to me which is great because I love everything presented here. Also giving good scores because what is here is done quite well.
