Excellent! I rate this among the best of the American Barley Wines I've had. As good as some barrel-aged BWs.
Very nice and deep bitterness, with some sweet and mostly bitter hoppy flavors. Poured from 22oz bottle to small Teku. I noticed a lot of sediment at the bottom of the bottle when I took it from the cellar where it had been standing vertically for 5 months. I shook bottle up to mix-out the sediment, let it stand for a couple minutes to disperse the bubbles (so it wouldn't spritz when I opened it), then opened it. I have learned that, for beer, the sediment adds considerable bitter flavors, which are desirable in beer, unlike wine where you sometimes filter-out sediment. Result is somewhat cloudy. Not a lot of aroma, really, but flavor is magnificent. Sort of half way between an American Strong Ale and a traditional ABW. Good BWs always demand to be paired with fine food. Many things are possible. This time, I had some high end chevre cheese and crackers, with some olive oil butter as well. All I can say is, we sure eat well around here!
Price was around $7 for the large bottle, so an easy best buy. World class, regardless of the price, really.
Now, if they ever tried to barrel-age this, OMG!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
