Ordered a 5 oz. pour at the back bar ("catwalk bar") of the brewery in Boulder. This beer isn't bottled, is only rarely available, only at the back bar, and only 2 barrels are produced each year.
Look: Dark amber, very little head
Smell: Maraschino cherry, booze, rum raisin
Taste: Very sweet, ABV is very well hidden, reminds me of Dogfish Head Higher Math
Feel: Medium plus carbonation, sticky sweet
Overall: Outstanding, for sipping only, but delicious

We had this on draft at Avery in September 2015.
The smell is a sweet smell with a light, boozy character. The sweet is founded by caramel and toffee. It smells like a treat!
It tastes like it smells and that is not a bad thing. The oak and the bourbon back the caramel, providing an interesting and multi-dimensional taste from the caramel to the yeast to the bourbon. It was quite enjoyable in the amount poured into a snifter.
It takes four years to candy up a Samael's like the BBR; a two year old DDB also has a similar profile. My wife (not a big beer drinker) stole the latter half of my glass of my Reverend and that never happens. Shared, or sipped like a dessert wine, it is fantastic!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
