Billed by the brewery as a “belgian-style wit with vanilla beans and extra orange zest. think orange creamsicle!”
Cloudy pale yellow with white highlights and ample white head. Taste has banana, clove, bubble gum, orange zest, clove, vanilla. Very light and refreshing and extremely easy drinking—my mom who religiously drinks blue moon liked this a lot. Funny enough, I like it too. I don’t get the orange creamsicle billing by the brewery at all. I’ve had some over the top blood orange IPA’s that had a orange creamsicle vibe and, while present in Cloud 9 is much more understated. I am picking more on the banana and bubble gum and clove than anything, although it is creamy from the vanilla and orange is present. Reminds me more of a weihenstephaner hefeweizen than a creamsicle. For my money about as good as an experimental wit is going to get.

Served On-Tap @ Avery, a Vanilla & Orange Witbier, sounds interesting enough.
A — Pours a hazy and bright pale yellow hue into the 16oz White Rascal Tumbler. There is a light white head on-top of the beer that settles and leaves some spotty clinging lace around the inside of the glass.
S — Smell is nice and a little bit sweet. A base note of light Belgian Wit characteristics appears first, with wheat, clove, and banana, followed by a rather nice fresh Orange note, with a slightly sweet vanilla overtone as well.
T — Like the nose, with a little bit more perceived sweetness, notes of lemon, Belgian yeast, wheat, clove, banana, orange peel, vanilla bean, lightly creamy and sweet, an amplified Witbier of sorts.
M — Light/Medium bodied, crisp and clean, refreshing, very drinkable.
O — Good overall, I enjoyed it, there is a bit of sweetness here but not overdone.

The vanilla really dominates this and adds a creaminess. I felt that the base beer was a bit overpowered by the smoothness added from the adjuncts, but still a very interesting and creamy beer worth a try.

On tap at the brewery. From notes. Reviewed 1 July 2015.
Smells like a soapy witbier. Is cloudy gold. Vanilla and orange combo works surprisingly well. Crisp.
