12oz. Bottle
Gold Foil/Capped
Bottled: Mar 10, 2016
Production: 1219 Cases
No. 35 In Our Barrel-Aged Series
Poured into a chalice a pretty nice cloudy brownish/orange color, very nice carbonation, with a pretty nice fizzy small off-white head, which leaves very minimal sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, yeasty, with some very nice cherry note, tarty. The taste is very nice malty, yeasty, very nice tartness, very nice cherries. Medium body, with a pretty nice dry finish (thinking tequila). Overall, a job very nicely done, different take on the style.

Super clean lacto sweet tart taste and super sour. The barrel more noticable on nose than taste. Clear copper color with no head but some carbonation.

This is only my second Avery beer, and my first Wild Ale of theirs, pretty much what they’re known for. This one was just calling me when I saw it; cherries and a tequila barrel treatment sounds like an interesting combination. Let’s crack it open and see how this odd mashup works out
Pours a murky medium brown with a finger of off white head that quickly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing
I’m sure this was much brighter when it was bottled 7 years ago, but the nose is balanced in its tartness. I’m picking up on aromas of tart cherry, vanilla, sharp oak, lime juice, agave, molasses, light toffee, and straw
Similarly in taste it is gentle with just enough of a tart bite to keep it interesting. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart cherry, lemon juice, brown sugar, toasted oak, agave, white wine vinegar, and molasses. The swallow brings notes of reposado tequila, tart cherry, lime juice, vanilla, sharp oak, brown sugar, and lemon yogurt
A medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a slick and tart beer. Finishes a tad sticky but it doesn’t hurt the drinkability
This is likely past its prime, but it’s still holding up. Good stuff

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Cloudy copper pour with 2 fingers of fizzy white head. Nice lacing.
S: Tart and acidic. Strong cherry.... vinegar and agave.
T.F: Tart cherry up front. Moderate acidity... green fruit and funk. Tequila and some oak... a bit of spice, more cherry and agave. Medium bodied and sticky mouthfeel. Dry to finish.
O: A pleasant sour... the cherry is highlighted and I would have enjoyed a bit more tequila for the brew. Good stuff though. Avery always does solid work.

Copper colored with a fingernail of brown around the rim and and covering a third of the top. I’m tasting tart cherries, brettanomyces, and a splash of tequila. The mouth is moderately carbonated and dry.

Deep, turbid, fiery amber with nice one finger buff-white foamy to fizzy head. Soon lost with no lacing
Lurking tequila note alongside a barrage of malt, oat, corn, grilled prickly pear, persimmon, rum, overripe Honeydew melon
Tequila, agave nectar, charred hickory and cherry wood, wild persimmon, plum and roasted corn all on top of a sour ale base zip.
Smooth, fizzy and tangy, Slight effervescence and moderate drying.
Well crafted and aged exceptionally well aged. Loved the tequila backbone
