El Gose

Modest head production and poor retention. Brew is a hazy, translucent golden straw color.

Banana, clove, and citrus on the nose, along with pale malt grains. Smells like a slightly sharp Weissbier.

Flavor is more in line with what I expect from a Gose, although there is still a rather large banana note lingering throughout. Tartness really emerges on the second half, building to a modest pucker. Lime and salt on the back third.

Fairly full bodied for a 4.5% ABV brew. Very lively.

This is an enjoyable brew, but well below the better examples of the style.

Hazy, golden color. One finger thick, white head. The aroma of lime, malt, and a bit of barnyard. Tart taste with a hint of salt. A good one.

 

Don't know if it was a bad can but it was so mild to almost not be sour and not very good. There wasn't much lime on the nose or pallet.. The feel was mostly neutral and look was a golden pale.

Poured from a 12oz can into a traditional pint.

The look off a hard pour was at first a decent 2 finger head that disappeared within a minute. Not a great start for a standard beer but with a sour it's forgivable. Medium carbonation, and it looks kind of like a Wendy's peach lemonade. Hazy and a very light golden straw.

I chilled this in the freezer so there not a lot of smell but it's a lot of lime here. Almost smells like a watered down whiskey sour. Some beer notes but sort of vague. Interesting but not the most beer-y.

Flavor is similar to smell a lot of lime, I think there are some hops in here though so it's definitely beer. And the aftertaste does have some golden ale malt notes it's pretty an good. Very limey it's a beer sour without sugar (not that beer sours are a thing, sour beer are.) It's pretty nice for a change of pace but I do like me some lemon and lime.

Feel is super light but not quite watery. Again this is excusable for a sour, it would be bad if a sour had a huge mouthfeel. Great beach or summer beer. Or just good if you want straight lime and alcohol but still want beer with some presence on the palate.

Overall a nice light beer obviously going for a summer outside vibe. And I'd say it fits it perfectly. Not necessarily a traditional sour. But still very good. I'm yet to have an actual gose yet so I'm not sure what that is usually.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I know I liked this but need to have more than once. A vague margarita vibe. Really solid beer

 

12 ounce can poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

L---Murky golden color. Fuzzy white head faded to nothing quickly and left no lacing. Looks like there's some floaters of yeast.

S---Mostly lime. nothing else is discernable.

T---Lime is strong. Sea salt is also clearly noticeable.

F---Feels flat. Crisp & wet.

O---If they only got one thing right, at least it was the taste. This is a tasty beer.

 

Gosa’s aren’t really my thing. I got a couple of 6packs from a very nice and generous person that doesn’t know my taste, and of course, I was very grateful.

The numbers I posted are in line with the average because I don’t believe that it’s fair to judge something that’s not in your “style” to harshly.

Firstly, what I find hardest to get past in all the gose’s that I’ve tried is the smell, that of dirty feet.

Secondly, and this is just my option, fwiw, it’s not beer! It’s more of a sour seltzer, or something?

Having said that, my impressions of this “beverage”. At first I had the same misgivings, but after a couple of drinks, I began to think that wasn’t a half bad lemony, limey sort of drink, refreshing even, but still not beer.

If your into gose’s it’s probably a good one! I drank it and enjoyed it, once I stoped thinking of it as a beer, but who am I to say.
