I’m not quite sure what the late addition of Azacca hops is supposed to improve. It definitely changes the flavor. Rogue particles float around going apeshit, but otherwise the burnt orange color and billowing white head look the same. The aroma is citrusy and malty. The Azacca somewhat obscures the malty flavor that made the original so good and adds some bright citrus and mango flavors. Lime peel and lemon peel hit up front and walk over a background of bread and caramel. Overall it isn’t bad at all. Actually, it’s quite good. But it is hard to rate it appropriately as they created something good and new but worse than before. Give 5 for trying and giving us something new? 1 for messing up an old favorite? I guess I’m happy to have tried it, so 2/3 in the first camp.
