12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/22/2016. Pours slightly hazy reddish/pinkish orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a thin ring of lace that lingers. Minimal lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big cucumber, berry, hay, wheat, cracker, oak, light funk/vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with solid balance and complexity of fruity/funky yeast, cucumber, hibiscus, pale malt, and oak barrel notes; with decent strength. Too strong on the cucumber, but not too bad. Taste of big tart lemon, lime, green apple, raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, cucumber, white wine, hay, straw, oak, wheat, and cracker; with lighter notes of pepper, vanilla, leathery/musty funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Moderate fruity/lactic tartness and light yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, green apple, raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, cucumber, white wine, hay, straw, oak, wheat, cracker, pepper, vanilla, light funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cucumber, hibiscus, pale malt, and oak barrel flavors; with an awesome malt/tartness balance, and zero puckering flavors after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from tart/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/acidic, and fairly crisp/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.4%. Overall this is a delicious vegetable/spiced sour/wild ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cucumber, hibiscus, pale malt, and oak barrel flavors; very smooth, crisp, and pretty refreshing to drink with the modestly lactic/tannic/drying finish. Really well rounded Brett/Lacto complexity,; with great balance of cucumber/hibiscus in the taste. Nice oak presence, and pale malt balance. The nose was underwhelming, but the taste definitely made up for it. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
