Good
Notes: Go Play IPA sports juicy, tropical, and dank aromas, fueled by dry-hop additions of Vic Secret, Idaho 7, and Simcoe hops. Better yet, sodium and potassium help activate this motivated, lively India Pale Ale.

Nice light IPA. Pours a slightly opaque straw color with lacing but little head. Aroma is really nice - mango and citrus bites. Taste is light malt with tart but pleasant citrus flavor. Body is really light. Nice, modern session pale ale.

Golden in color. Head was white and dissipated quickly. Lacing was pretty and slightly irregular. Surprised how great the bitter bite was, which was a pleasant surprise.

Somewhat hazy orangey stress with pillowy head. Smells of pineapple, citrus (grapefruit, lemon), a little dankness and pine. Flavor is fairly similar with a little cracker malt. Dry and refreshing with medium high bitterness. Pithy. It might be the power of suggestion, but I want to say there's something of a salty aftertaste.

Pretty regular IPA very light orange brown color with a good amount of foam. Smell is typical IPA fanfare and taste is pretty crisp fruity hops even though my can is almost 7 months old. The only drawback? The added sodium and potassium which is two things my doctor says I should avoid. SHAME on you Avery but lets keep this a secret since I really shouldn't be drinking that much OK?

12 oz can ($1.99) with a 23 August 2018 canning date from the Wall of Beer (Clemson, SC).
Pours golden and lightly hazy with a good bit of visible carbonation rising to a moderate size, creamy white head. Good retention and excellent lacing.
Both the aroma and the flavor reflect moderate strength for style and carry tropical fruit notes. Medium-light bitterness for style. Harmonious with very good balance.

Pours a hazed gold with a thumb of pearl colored head. Nice lacing & head retention

S: Tropical, a little bready

T: Follows the nose, dryness, tangerines up front. A touch of lime & more tangerine, plus dryness as this warms. Finishes dry with grapefruit pith, a little mango

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation, nice balance

So easy to drink, well put together IPA

-Spiegelau ipa glass.

A: A good clarity on a bright orange coloring reveals a quick paced carbonation that was loosely packed. A dull ivory capping had the consistency of cottage cheese, frumpy, and had a good retention rate. A consistent thin band lacing encircles the vessel.

S: Fresh wet citrus, juicy, with some soft lime accents. Fresh grapefruit with hints of dried pine-orange peel finishing out. Musky rose/floral with an average rate of strength.

T: Flavor of juicy orange pine hops resins with grapefruit and some musky floral. Citrus pulp, light souring grapefruit, orange peel bitterness.

M: Thick and juicy hop resins lay heavily on the tongue, supported by a bready soup backbone. Light carbonation.

O: A good deal of orange-pine resins, 50%-50% flavor/bittering. The flavor is straight forward, nothing fancy, it is the thick and juicy hop resins that are the showcase here making for a good drinker. Bright and juicy, worthy a try.

A: The beer is relatively clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that died down, leaving a short head covering the surface.
S: Light aromas of pineapples are present in the nose.
T: The taste is both tropical and citrusy with flavors of grapefruit, passionfruit, and pineapple. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA is perfectly sessionable and has an interesting mix of flavors in the taste.

L: Poured from a can to a pint glass. Had a golden yellow color and a clear consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, somewhat long-lasting head. Fantastic lacing.

S: A slightly odd aroma of hops, citrus, tropical fruit, malt, and a bready quality.

T: Tasted of a small amount of tropical fruit (papaya, mango), a good shot of hops, some mild citrus notes (orange, in particular), some of the bready quality, and light dankness. Not quite as odd as I expected given the added electrolytes, but still a smidgen out of whack. It started out being overly bitter, but gave way to a thinness. Still, it has some good elements.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a slightly slick finish. Light-bodied.

O: This is one of those experimental beers that doesn't work entirely. Still, worth a shot.

Pours a light gold/yellow with normal carbonation. Aroma is of dank hops. Taste is of fruity citrusy, herbal, dank hops with a hint of cat piss and berry. Some grain is also present. Okay IPA but not my preferred flavor of hop driven flavors.

I got this off the single shelf at the Montgomery Binnys and tried it at my old neighbor house. It poured a pale yellow with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had faint dank fruit. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with bitter citrus and pine mix. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.

This beer pours a clear starw with a large head. The aroma features notes of lemon and orange peel, mango, papaya, light pine, and mild caramel. The flavor is pleasant enough with notes of lemon peel, orange peel, grapefruit flesh, mango, and mild pine. The mouthfeel is quite light, with bright, small bubble carbonation. Overall this is a pretty middle of the road IPA, but tasty none the less. Nothing really memorable about it, but nothing objectionable either.

Tried to guage this based off of just being an IPA, without considering the "supplements." Honestly was pleasantly surprised, even without all things considered, a solid IPA

Canned July 18, 2018.

It pours a slightly hazy straw yellow color with ample foam decent lacing.

The smell is of grapefruit citrus light biscuit malt very hoppy and slightly dank.

The taste follows to smell.
Nice grapefruit bitterness but not overly bitter light dankness, biscuit malt that is on the toasted side.

Good mouthfeel and now I'm noticing that has a slightly oily hoppy taste to it.

All in all, this is a nice IPA of lower ABV but doesn't suffer from what session IPAs suffer from.

Avery Brewing Co. "Go Play IPA"
12 fl. oz. can, "CANNED ON: 06/07/18..." and sampled on 08/09/18
$1.99 @ Roger Wilco, Pennsauken, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: So this is a salted IPA? Interesting, kind of like a Dogfish Head SeaQuench Ale but hoppy? OK, let's see... it's poured a hazy yellow-gold body beneath a finger-thick head of bright white foam. The aroma is actually a little mineralish, which is weird because I didn't think there'd be that much salt in it, and it's really not that hoppy, at least for an IPA, although there is a floral and tropical character to it. It smells good so I won't complain. On to the flavor... similar. I can actually taste the salt. It's got more hops to it than the aroma suggests with some grapefruit, some orange, a touch of papaya, and perhaps a bit of mango. Peach? Yes, I think so, there's a little tiny bit of peach to it. It's not overly hoppy though. Nor is it too bitter but it is salty in the finish which seems to accentuate the bitterness that's there as it lingers. It's made me very thirsty, I want to wash the saltiness out of my mouth, let me try that... well that's better. Now I'm getting fruitiness and a golden malt followed by stronger hop notes across the middle, and then bitterness, salt, and then some herbal notes in the finish as the bitterness rises. And there's the salt again, drying out my mouth. Apart from the saltiness though I'd say it's pretty nicely balanced with a nice tropical hop flavor. In the mouth it's light-medium in body and crisp. How strong is this? 5.5% abv? It's really more of a hoppy pale ale than IPA although that bitterness does seem fairly bold. Worth trying if an "activated" beer is something you've got a need for.

Canned 6/7/18; drank 7/27/18 @ the Yarchives.

See-through orange/yellow appearance.

A violent pour yielded a huge off-white head; strong, frothy lace.

Wheat, mild orange citrus & faint table sugar notes in the nose.

Medium thin mouthfeel.

Mild orange citrus flavor up front; wheat notes on the finish.

This would be OK on a golf course or something, but not much flavor here. Pass.

Taking cues from the gose play book, Avery Brewing Company applies the rounded salinity of that sour ale to the crowd pleasing IPA. Activated with electrolytes and a sensible alcohol content, the Simcoe, Vic Secret and Idaho 7 hop fueled IPA brings a refreshing and hydrating beer vibe to athletics.

Pale golden and hazy, the frothy ale draws in the nose with a host of tropical fruit, citrus and herb. Gentle sweetness carries a nutty, lightly honied and caramelized taste that brings thoughts of trail mix and graham cracker.

With the mineral rich ale splashing against the middle palate, its refreshing tone takes hold with a hop-centric demeanor. papaya, passionfruit and red grapefruit rise first, and with orange, apricot and a strong herbal contingency coming in a moderately bitter late palate. A light briny solution intertwines with impressions of fruit juice for a hint of pedialyte in finish.

Light and dry, the beer nearly reaches more sessionable IPA status while ultimately becoming a pale ale with a stronger hop tilt. Dry, crisp and refreshing throughout, the beer closes with the promised and rounded salinity that plays lightly on the finish for a snappy texture but slightly fuller taste, and a medium long grip of hop bitterness on the throat.
