More like an IPA and a half but extremely drinkable. The hops are very evident in aroma and flavour balanced well with sweet biscuit malt. Soft fading white head, slightly hazy appearance. Citrus hops - can't say for sure which types are used but tastes like a blend. Would definitely sample again.

Had this on tap at Falling Rock, best beer of the night ( wreck the halls was a close second)

Poured amber/copper with 1" of white head. Great lacing & head retention

S: Loads of earthy & piney hops, then bready sweetness breaks through as this warms

T: In your face piney hops & breadyness up front. Caramel, breadyness, plus herbal, grapefruitty, lemony & piney hops as this warms. Finishes with a pretty strong hop finish, but there's plenty of malt sweetness to balance it out, yum!

MF: Chewy with just enough carbonation to highlight the hops

Drank too easy, dangerously drinkable. Almost as good as Maharajah, just a little more stripped down as DIPAs go. Would love to find this on tap down here

On tap at Old Chicago (LoDo) in Denver, on recomendation from the bartender.
Standard pint glass full of deep gold, almost orange liquid, and topped with a short and tight white head. Slightly hazy, good head retention, some this lace.
Lots of nice hoppy aromas, earthy and floral, some grapefruit. Big juicy hop flavor. Nicely balanced and smooth, strong and bold with out being overpowering. Citrusy, lemon, more floral/herbal than the smell. Easy to drink, not too sharp or biting, despite being big and bold. Very tastey.

Another IIPA from Avery. Maharaja is excellent, so this one should be good as well.
On tap at Falling Rock
A nice deep golden color, slightly hazed up, fluffy white head. Head chunked a bit, and had a couple splotches. Good lacing.
Smells a bit weak for an IIPA. Hops are present, more herbal than citrus. Soft florals. A good blend of all three. Nothing piercing like some other IIPAs, but attractive.
Taste follows the nose well. Well balanced. The hops are intense but calmed down a bit with the balance. Citrus peel, perhaps unripe citrus. A bit sour. Herbal smoothness, not a strong bite. Makes drinking it easier. NOt as sharp as the Maharaja, but more balanced with the malts

I first tried this at the GABF, enjoyed it thoroughly, and was excited to see it on tap at Falling Rock. This is a deceptively smooth and creamy double IPA. It's light copper in color with a thin head, and the bouquet is a burst of fleshy, earthy hops. Like Avery's other DIPA, Gemini is a hop bomb on the tongue, and the finish is especially long and bitter, but the smooth, clean malt presence imparts a great balance to this brew. There's a slight warming tinge (long after) each swig, which is the single hint as to this brew's significant strength.

Another great brew from Avery; I hope they'll start releasing this on a regular basis. It's a nice companion (and step up) on the ladder from their standard IPA to the Maharaja.

This was on tap at the Avery tap room and it was pretty awesome. It had a great piney smell, citrus flavors and was like a Maharajah junior. Easy to drink with a dry finish, I enjoyed this a lot. Even better was the news that they are going to bottle this beer!
