12oz canned 07/22/22 (15 months ago) poured into a tulip glass at fridge temp 8.2% ABV. The beer pours dense black with no light penetration and light brown head. The head recedes to a thin ring and single layer of bubbles. The aroma is mild with caramel and chocolate plus a hint of whiskey barrel. The taste is bittersweet roasted malt with tangy hints of well used oak barrel, dark chocolate and coffee. Moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, good stout.

12 ounce can, canned on 04/27/21, thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a tulip, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch or so tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. The brew smells like roasted malt, coffee, oak, whiskey and vanilla. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some dark bread, earthy, dark fruit and caramel flavors noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and a bit syrupy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good brew but I'd like to try this one fresher at some point too. Certainly worth trying if you're able to!

I often like barrel aged beers but this one just had the wrong mix of hops, malt and barrel flavor. I can't quite put my finger on it. It's not horrible but not not really as good as it's rating seemed.

Pours a deep dark chocolate color with a ruby tinge when in a lit area, aromas are good but a bit muted with vanilla/whiskey and bitter chocolate showing thru the most.Alot like the aromas the flavor profile is nice but understated,I get some vanilla tinged whiskey, and caramel notes,a slight drying earthiness, and woodiness in the finish. Not bad just needs to be amped up a little....In my opinion.

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This solid little brew pours a
dark brownish black with a very nice head of light brown foam that
settles to a thick ring, thick clumping layer, and sports some very nice lacing.
Nose of bourbon, vanilla, dark cocoa, subtle dark coffee, and earthy malt hints.
Flavors surpass the nose with aplomb. Dark cocoa, coffee, bourbon, charred
oak, toasted coconut hints, and touches of tobacco and vanilla. Nice mouth feel;
medium full veering towards full body, medium light carbonation that offers some
nice lift, medium full mouth feel, and lightly dry nicely balanced char and sweet
bourbon finish.
Overall----an excellent little brew! Approachable and appreciated.
Not a lot of frill and just enough thrill!
Cheers

Somewhere between cola and black coffee with a small clinging tan head. The nose is molasses, ever present roasted malt, chocolate late, and a faint hint of whiskey. The taste is bittersweet chocolate, a bit of coffee, sweet booziness, and a dry finish. A decent barrel aged stout. It falls a bit short with everything mostly muted. (Found old notes on this one)

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown nearly black color with a one finger head of tan colored foam. The head has a decent level of retention, fading slowly over time to leave a light sum of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is of a roasted malt smell mixed with aromas of coffee and chocolate. Along with these smells comes notes of caramel and cola as well as some smells of a boozy alcohol of a rum and bourbon like nature. With a touch of smoke and oak, a very inviting smell is produced overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a heavy roasted malt flavor mixed with a big showing of toast and oat. At the same time comes some molasses and brown sugar as well as a light bit of coffee. These tastes all create a base flavor for the brew lasting throughout the taste profile. As the taste moves forward it picks up flavors of whisky and rum as well as some of the oak and smoke that were in the nose. Some light cocoa and a touch of added booziness come at the very end, leaving one with a thick and robust dark and warming taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thick and creamy with a carbonation level that is low. For the oatmeal, roasted, and boozy taste the feel is great and makes for a nice slow sipper.
Overall – A rather tasty and thick stout at a more moderate abv for a whisky barrel aged brew. Quite enjoyable.

So I love this. Its not the best barrel aged stout but I think it taste is satisfactory for the price so that's part of why I give it a big rating. Stuff like this is expensive normally and this one super isn't and still generally hits the notes it should. Dumps on stuff but New Belgium and Breckenridge for sure.
