12 oz can, canned 12/27/21. Pours very hazy gold orange with a huge frothy white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.
The aroma is subdued - soapy malts with some fruit.
The flavor is sweet soapy wheat malts with some fruit and a mild resiny bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, an OK NE IPA.

12oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of bubbly foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of grapefruit, pineapple, orange and toasted caramel. Sweet tropical fruit taste with a piney bitterness and caramel backbone.

12 fl oz pull-tab can:
Pulpy acidity. Citric fruit - orange in particular. Mandarin orange syrup. Lychee juice.
Has a pulpy slimey feel to it, but it's not unrefreshing. Medium-bodied. Well carbonated.
A nice ale for what it is, but the hop profile doesn't dazzle.

The culture of hops has taken beer on quite a journey and most lovers of hops are happy to tag along. But some hopheads take their love of hops to the freaky side and Avery makes this beer for them.
Imperial in it's status, hazy in it's appearance and radiant in it's flavor, Hop Freaks Volume 1 makes an introduction with a golden amber, orange tinged appearance. Wrapped in an expected elevated haze, the beer tops off with a creamy white cap and a candied orange scent with hints of green herb, tropical fruit and citrusy perfume. Supple, creamy and sweet on the tongue, the beer's flavors open up with honey, light caramel and toasted cereal.
But the focus quickly turns to hop flavor as the taste of branch-ripe and radiant tangerine come with a Valencia-like punch and with complementary hints of red grapefruit, mango and peach. A patient transition toward hop bitterness reveals a slight drying of sweetness and a glow of herbal and green flavors that carry the beer into the directions of fresh spruce, fresh grass, green tea, hemp, verbena and gin.
Medium bodied and slightly fuller than the average IPA, the persistent cereal quality of the beer remains to buffer against the only moderate bitterness and to ensure a smooth bitterness with a juicy sense of fruitiness that ultimately frames the session. A linger of fruit peels and botanical herbs keep the classic hop heads happy while the hazier influence strikes the fancy of younger ones.

I thought I added this already but I guess not. I remember finding it adequate the first time but this second was lowkey abhorrent. Idk....
