Pours a clear, dark brown color, nearly black and opaque in the glass; thick, sticky, frothy head, long lasting, khaki hued. Quiet notes of dark roasted grain, coffee, and vanilla; very subdued smells. Well-rounded taste; vanilla sweetness with sublime milk chocolate tones; nearly imperceptible espresso presence, but it's there if you concentrate real hard; mild to moderate bitterness. Heavy, slick body; smooth and oily.

My guess is that the espresso would be more prominent if consumed closer to the canning date. Still, this stout is lovely as is, more like a rich milk or sweet stout and easy drinking.

On draft at PapPo's Columbia. Poured an opaque, black color with a good sized, light brown head of foam. It left sticky patches of lace on the glass. It smelled of roasted coffee, chocolate and toffee. Nice roasted coffee taste but not overpowering. Tasted of cream, chocolate and some caramel, too.

L: Nearly black with oversized brown bubbles.
S: Roasted malt with a bit of coffee and vanilla.
T: Vanilla, coffee, a bit of malt and char, bitter hops on the finish, some alcohol warming.
F: Light body and overly carbonated.
O: Not bad, but there’s something hollow and unsatisfying. The ingredients are less than the sum of the parts. And there is way too much carbonation.

This is a tasty stout. It's not too sweet and has an overall great taste. I don't think I would describe it as an espresso stout. To me the finish has got a very light coffee-like taste with a nutty flavor. And possibly some light milk chocolate notes hidden in it. I can't taste the alcohol much and there's not but a hint of hops in the flavor profile. The feel is quite smooth and carbonation is light and barely noticable making this brew very easy to drink despite the fact that the ABV is 6.5%. I rated this beer a 4.75. It deserves it because it's one of the better stouts available right now and it is unique in its own way. I strongly suggest you give it a try. It's limited time only I believe.

Black coffee color with a modest tan head that recedes fairly quickly with just a bit of lacing.
The aroma is coffee with a bit of caramel malt. The taste is rich espresso over mildly sweet caramel malt with some nice vanilla notes. Finish is dry with some lingering coffee notes.
The body is medium, moderate carbonation, very smooth and very drinkable.
Altogether this is a very tasty and nicely balanced brew. This would be an excellent after dinner drink but enjoyable anytime.
