Servedon draught into a conical pint glass at Avery brewing. Reviewed from notes.
A: Pours a 1.5 finger white colour soft head of slight cream, nice thickness, and above average retention. Body colour is a semitransparent copper. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show.
Sm: Heavy as hell on the rosemary; it's like rosemary bread. Floral hops. An average strength aroma.
T: Floral hops and rosemary. Clean malts. A bit simple, but balanced and enjoyable. Its pleasant, but lacks complexity and subtlety.
Mf: Smooth and wet, with some tingly coarseness from the spices. Good carbonation and thickness.
Dr: Drinkable and enjoyable, but lacking complexity and subtlety. Nothing stnads out here; it's a bit generic. I wouldn't get it again. A disappointment from Avery.

Sampled at the tasting room. Pours up like a standard IPA with a thick dollop of creamy foam that laces well. Rosemary all around. Woodsy, piney, rosemary slices through the pine and citrus from the hops. A hint of caramel malt and lemon juice as it warms. A bit cleanser-like in the last few ounces. A great effort, but rosemary is such an overwhelming herb when used in beer.

We had this one on tap yesterday at the Avery Taphouse in Boulder. I have no idea why Winter (fresh and full of hops in late May?) is in the name. An IPA (65 IBU) brewed with fresh rosemary. Poured a nice golden color with a nice white head. Very herbal on the nose, fruity/floral hops and subtle rosemary. On the palate, medium bodied, with flavors of hops, rosemary and biscuit. Very good.
