Consumed on draft at the Odio Equum release and 2013 Snallygaster festival, reviewed from notes. Bad Apple is a fully hazed grain golden in color with a ring of white head. The beer is pleasantly tart, moderately sour, with lots of green apple laid over the pale malt structure. Grain and white grape. Sour, lingering finish. Lively carbonation and a lighter body. A little simplistic as the apple dominates, but in a clean fashion without any sweet apple juice issues. Good but not on par with most any other Avery sour I’ve come across.

On tap for Beachwood Sour Fest at Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach, CA.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. No lacing on the drink down. Smell is slightly sour and tart with malt, apple, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with sour green apple and acidic flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer a nice sour green apple presence that is slightly better in the taste.

On-tap at Avery's Tap Room and served in a 10oz snifter. The beer menu describes this is as a sour that's been infused with Granny Smith apples.

The beer arrived with a cloudy peach hue and a dense eggshell cap that stuck around nicely. A very tart nose of sour apple and grape, raw grain, plus a touch of white-wine vinegar make up the nose. The tart theme rides right into the flavor. A general sourness is heavily bolstered by extremely tart apple. A strong puckering effect in the finish rounds things out. A light body with soft carbonation completes the piture.

Overall, not my favorite sour. The tart Granny Smith apples seemed almost over the top when combined with the beer's inherent sourness. Still, I'm glad I had it.
