I got a late start on NBS (Week 774) & I did not finish up my DelMarVa (+ DC) adventure as planned. 8=( Further, I promised that NBS (Week 775) & now, Week 776, would be dedicated to the wonderful beers sent to me by @jkblr who seems to have a real handle on my drinking habits. CANsparency is key in these things! As a result, I am going to CANcentrate over the next few days on eradicating everything that would have CANbined to form the finale of the DelMarVa (+ DC) adventure. Sit down, strap in & hang on. It's gonna be a wild ride! That last one kind of put me off of Maryland, at least for the moment, so it's time to visit some of the other victims, I mean, honorees.
From the CAN: "Good Friends[,] Good Waves[,] Great Beer"; "Grapefruit India Pale Ale"; "A Marriage of Hops & Grapefruit"; "Male'Ana - an unfiltered American IPA, hopped with Falconer's Flight and finished with fresh grapefruit puree. Distinct grapefruit and tropical flavors and aromas."
Given the preceding, some in-CAN agitation was in order before the Crack! of the vent. I wanted to ensure that any/all flocculate was back in suspension. I CANtinued with a heavy-handed inverted C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass to help CANtinue this trend. The result was the very quick formation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with decent retention, leaving a LOT of sticky lacing in its wake. Color was a murky Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose was simply redolent with grapefruit. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was solid grapefruit. Fair dinkum, since they had it plastered all over the label, plus grapefruit CAN be an expected flavor in an AIPA. That said, I liked it just fine, but it might be far too bitter for some. For me, this could simply replace my glass of morning grapefruit juice & I would not be much the wiser. Finish was dry, bitter & about as full of grapefruit as they could have gotten, short of attaching a fruit to the CAN at point of sale. 8=O Me = Yum! YMMV.

It looks like I'll be the first to review this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden/orange color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of grapefruit, little else. Taste is grapefruit, pine, moderate bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
