2019 Version:
L-brown with amber hues
S-Vanilla, oak, nougat, a bit of dark fruit
T-Maple emerges on the taste...not overwhelming. Adds a nice touch of sweetness though. Blackberries, plums...vanilla, nougat
F-Solid body but not immense. Just a touch of alcohol sharpness.
O-I really like what they did with this. The maple adds the perfect touch to a nice barrel aged big porter. Top notch.

one of the highest highs of the rare beer fest this year, and just a really solid beer overall here from these guys. a huge porter aged in maple syrup barrels for a period of time, nothing beats maple for me, and this beer is packed full of it, a great expression of real high quality syrup, and despite the obvious sweetness that comes with this one, i never want my glass to be empty! rich and leggy in the glass, huge maple nose with a lot of deep roast from the malt, very sturdy base on this one, appropriately bitter and burnt to balance all the sugar form the syrup, coffee notes in the background and hints of wet tobacco, dark chocolate, and wet oak. the maple presence here is amazing, from start to finish from first smell to last drop, i love how forward it is in here, almost giving the beer the same syrupy texture. a little boozy at the end but thats expected in something like this. i get a little character to the yeast too which i like in a big porter, makes it more round and complete. exquisite stuff, i hope to encounter this one again. fingers crossed!
