Poured from a 12-oz undated can into a Nonic pint glass.
Look: Very dark brown — nearly black — with a huge dark tan head that gradually diminished to the same color foam cap leaving adequate lacing.
Nose: Dark roast, chocolate, a bit of cooked brown sugar.
Mouthfeel: Thick and smooth, adequate carbonation.
Attack: Follows the nose closely, and mellowly — slight pleasant and not at all dominant sweetness.
Finish: Alcohol evident, followed by bitterness from the dark roast.
Overall: This is a very nice robust porter — good work, Bemidji! I’d enjoy sipping it, or pairing it with grilled or roasted meats. While the brewery’s category for the current edition of this beer is “Robust Porter,” I’d probably consider it an Imperial Porter, based both on the alcohol content (now 10%) and the flavor. Also, per the brewery, they'd previously changed the "Double Porter" recipe every year; as of last year (2023), they no longer tweak recipes and name the porter by year — it's now their permanent Double Porter.

This beer pours a beautiful dark brown. The head that forms is minimal, less than 1 finger, however it is decent lasting. As the head dissipates, it forms a ring around the edge of the glass that clings to the glass.
The nose is a nice maple syrup aroma from the barrels used to age this beer.
Taste - Somewhat mellow up front that turns on the backside into a combination of maple syrup, and a roasted flavor. Some malts are showing up in the flavor as well.
Thick, rich, full, and a bit of a warming boozy feel.
Overall it's a very good beer.
