a unique fresh hop double ipa up here featuring simcoe hops, heavy and wet from all the hops in it, a slow sipper for sure, palate coating with all kinds of resins and oils and other residuals from the hops, but a little skunky thing to it as well that i got from a lot of wet simcoe beers this year, which could be a polarizing element, but it didnt bother me any. somehow the abv is pretty well disguised in here, it only drinks like a double because of all the body and sticky hops left on the palate after each sip. some spiciness from them as well, a woodiness thats cool with the simple barley malt base, and an obvious freshness that gives this most of its appeal. there is some sweetness all the way through this that really carries the hops, and as much as i like the simcoe this is dripping with, i also almost taste it too long, if there is such a thing in a beer like this. its on my palate forever, and thats where the skunky side of the hops becomes more apparent, as robust as the pine and weed characteristics at the end here. overall a filling and sturdy beer, a nice way to celebrate wet hop time if you are going to have just a single beer, as this one packs a punch. the overall quality of the beer in here has been up and down in my experience, but they threw enough wet hops at this to make it tasty and memorable.
