Color is a brownish red with plenty of foam in the Brigand chalice. Susdy and tangy on the tongue. Still some moderate sweetness with a malty body. Moderate smoky aroma along with dark fruit. Tastes of charred malt, wood, and a touch of raising. Dry finish. Fairly bitter aftertaste along with bitter chocolate. More bitter than smoky, but it's an interesting if austere brew. This bottle has been refrigerated a couple of years. Purchased at Solera's tasting room in Parkdale (what's with this "Mount Hood Parkdale" b.s.?).
