Serving: On-tap, in a sampler flight
Served: 5 April 2014
Appearance: Crystal clear reddish-brown with a soapy head. The head collapsed in the sampler glass pretty quick, my someone else in my party had a 16oz and it stuck around and left good lacing.
Smell: Rather uncomplicated. Very minimal and "clean", slightly "beery". Some sweetness from the malts coming through, a little bit of caramel as well, but these are very muted. Would liked a more assertive malt-flavor on the nose.
Taste: Good, balanced flavor between malts and some slight hop bitterness on the back end. Listed at 30 IBU by the brewer, so definitely more bitter than some ambers. Tastes somewhat like a more bitter, slightly hoppier Märzen.
Mouthfeel: Low carbonation and somewhat watery. Easily the weakest aspect of this beer.
Overall: A solid, entry level craft offering bound to appeal to those who are not fans of more extreme styles but still wish to enjoy a local, craft beer.
