Serving: On tap, sampler flight
Served: 5 April 2014
Appearance: Light, crystal clear pale yellow. Same color as the Belgium Pale, just clearly filtered. Light, white, foamy head on the top.
Smell: Very simple- not much here beside some clean, pure sweetness and some light pear notes.
Taste: Very much like the smell, this one is very subdued. However, if you take a nice swig of it and let it sit in your mouth briefly before swallowing, you'll notice the taste is incredibly clean and pure on all ends- from first entering your mouth through the swallow. No weird off flavors creep up anywhere. The beer has a soft sweetness and notes of pear and sweet white-wine. Finishes very easy.
Mouthfeel: Soft and watery, but to style.
Overall: For the style, a very simple one, this is a great beer. In terms of all beer, this is nothing special. However, in the spirit of giving a style it's due, this is great. A soft, easy drinking beer that anyone, craft drinker or not, will find unimposing but refreshing and pure. This, along with the amber, most likely appeal to broader, non-craft audiences.
