Serving: On tap, 4oz sampler
Served: 9 April 2015
Appearance: Pours a golden color with a pinch of reddish tint- somewhat like pink gold. A nice soapy white head crowns the beer and it leaves reasonable lacing, even in the sampler glass.
Aroma: Pine resin, bits of grapefruit peel, orange zest, and a touch of lemon grass.
Taste: Really smooth hoppy flavors with largely the same profile as in the aroma, just with a heavier assertion of the bitter citrus over the pine. Solid malt sweetness carries the substantial hoppiness. Finishes medium-dry.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with medium carbonation. I would have liked to see some more carbonation to really carry the beer and make the hop notes stick more after swallowing.
Overall: A great, quaffable ale by Function. I love the Single Hop Pale series- it really helps beer nerds experience how different ingredients can play a major role in experiencing a beer.
