Tap at Drop-In. Poured an opaque, jet-black color with a small, tan head of foam. It left sudsy lacing. It smelled of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and toffee. Good roasted malt taste with coffee, sweet chocolate and toffee.

slightly lighter side of porter here, looks and drinks almost like a brown ale, no black color in the glass, richer brown sure, but not black, very light in body, no real roasted bitterness at all either, this seems more focused on middle malt profiles, chocolate and mid crystal, pleasant to drink, especially in the summer, but definitely light for the style, im into it but it might seem like something is missing for those more used to the deeper takes on porter. good shine to it, high headed from the tap, a creaminess to it even in its lightness so it doesnt look or feel thin ever, just not heavy like many of them do. an aroma of high quality chocolate, dark bread, and minerals, less sweet than many, a faint coffee note i suppose providing the low end, some caramel character still, a kiss of smoke maybe. the flavor is chocolate driven, but not as bitter and deep as dark chocolate and not as sweet as milk chocolate, somewhere in the middle. lots of toffee and biscuit and tobacco and raisin middle on this, thats really where this is long in taste. i like the drinkability, especially for the summer. some photos online show this much darker than it was in my experience, maybe they have lightened it some in recent iterations? a little underwhelming overall, but good balance of flavors, clean on the ferment, maybe faintly hoppy to close. itll work.
